Preliminary sketch that was leading to The High Priestess in my tarot set. Loosely based on me.
I was working on a comic strip/book based on me, and here was an early concept drawing. More inking and coloring practice.
I am most fascinated with drawing heads and faces, in any style. Here are some more cartoon studies and playing with color.
Even more cartoon studies...
More cartoon studies and inking practice
Cartoon studies from a book teaching how to be a cartoonist.
Cartoon studies to get down facial expressions and work on that inking technique some more.
More Windsor McKay studies
Preliminary sketch of The Fool for a tarot set I was working on.
I am also a big fan of George Harriman, so this is my study/tribute to Krazy Kat.
Studies from Windsor McKay's work. I love this style.
Probably another study from a fairy tale book, colored in my own quirky ideal. I don't believe the original had stripes. Or was colored at all, frankly.
My interpretation of the ex's comic book character, Mr. Average. He wasn't nearly this cutesy in the book, but I was playing with a cartoony style at the time.
A fish inspired by some of the wierd art from Heavy Metal, as I recall.
This was probably a study from an old fairy tale book, modified for my own liking.
This is a study of Omaha the Cat Dancer, one of my favorite comics from "back in the day."
This was a study in inking, to see if I could get the varying pressures of the pen correct. I got better with practice.
Fun sketches, possibly copy studies
This is a preliminary sketch of my ex-hasband as the tarot card The Magician.
