Nasreena sent me (a while back) some links that I have been meaning to post. Check them out! Next time I won't procrastinate as much. Right. I think that's another issue in this whole weight loss process that kicks me in the shins.
I mentioned the low carb chocolate chip cookies, and I notice that I want to stuff my face with them and then they are all gone without registering in my brain that I ate them. I think this is another big problem for me, so I am going to try, for one day, to pay close attention to everything I eat. Not that I write it down or something, but that I stop doing everything else when I am eating, no matter what I am eating. That moment will be me and the food alone, and I will see how making the act of eating register on my brain affects how much I want to eat. I bet that I feel more satisfied with less, because I will have paid attention, savored the flavor of the bites.
I'll let you know how it works.
So much for stopping the eating binge after Halloween. There was still candy in the house, and I was eating it. I bought some CarbWell Chips Ahoy chocolate chip cookies, and they are good. I think I have to realize, though, that if it's bad for me and in the house, I'll eat it. Discipline is an issue for me. We don't have much discipline in the house between us, so it's hard not to want to just sit around and watch TV and eat popcorn. We are a snacky lot. Our waists prove it.
I just want to find the right balance of exercise, eating healthily and still enjoying myself. That's all. Is that too much to ask for? :)
This post lists 10 ways to boost your metabolism. Here they are in a nutshell. Read the article for specifics.
1. Build lean body mass.
2. Get moving.
3. Eat.
4. Ditch the sugar.
5. Don’t skip breakfast.
6. Include hot foods.
7. Drink green tea.
8. Don’t forget H2O.
9. Avoid stress. At all costs.
10. Sleep.
Each item has some good suggestions in the article about how and why to do these things. Number 9 is my biggest problem, I think. I stress about a lot of things. Now I'm off to do #10! Maybe that will help with #9 too.
I love this holiday. In light of that and my recent binging, I have decided to let today go by and start fresh tomorrow. No guilt, only love for myself and all you who are making your way in the world.
Happy Halloween!
