in honor of Dr. Gene Scott...

My favorite conservative Captain Ed has a post comparing Saddam's capture to a scene in The Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien. Does life imitate art, or the other way around? Perhaps some stories are eternal. If so, why should we be surprised when they play out?

This is Captain's 600th post. We started this gig roughly around the same time and he is outpacing me almost 3 to 1. And with serious posts too.

I hope this comment is directed to the honor of Dr. Gene Scott. Quite frankly I'm not really sure this web site is in reference to the good Doctor on channel 4, @ 1:00a.m.
If it is, I would like to thank you for appreciating him. We are all very fortunate to be alive at this time in history. We have,in Dr.Gene Scott; an opportunity to savor this mans love of our Father... Yes we are fortunate to be alive, while Gene is...

I want to express my appreciation of Dr. Gene Scott. Since 1979 I have followed his life; and listened carefully. I love his love of our Father. I am like him, in love with our great creator. Our Father, our one and only, our special friend. I thank the person who did this web site. This man, Dr.Gene Scott is an intelligent voice of God, for us who care to listen. These well kept secrets that Gene shares freely are special gems approved of our Father.

This post is one I get tons of hits for by people googling "Dr. Gene Scott." I hadn't gone back and read it in a while, and now I realize it relates to "The Good Doctor" only remotely. What an interesting place the Internet is, that someone's search lands them on a post like this.

I'm still not sure if this guy is a cult leader.

Dr. Scott, A charlatan who preys on the good nature of the lost children of the world. If any one has to pay to get to heaven, then surely we are doomed! How can a man live in a mansion, own thorough bred horses and use an expensive jet to travel call himself a man of God! Whose hard earned money does he spend anyway! Look within to find God not the convoluted preachings of a con artist!

I don't know much about Dr. Gene Scott, nor do I know his heart and mind, so I don't know if he is a man of God or not, but being wealthy and being a man of God are not mutually exclusive. There is PLENTY of scripture to back this up.

Splendid use of the ancient languages! I've not heard a more intense spiritual exercise from the book of Romans! Bring it on!

I was 19yrs old in 1967, when I first met and heard Dr. Gene Scott preach in Calcutta, India.
He is very sincere and down to earth. Over the years he makes more and more sense and explains God's Word. Truly he is an open book. What you see is what is there and what you get. God remember Dr.Gene Scott who trusts in You.

Dr. Gene Scott has passed away, as of 4:30 pm PST on 2/21/05. May God have mercy on his soul.

Dr. Scott did pass away at 4:30 today. He absolutely touched so many people's lives with his uncompromising teaching of the Bible. A genius of the highest order, he totally dedicated his life to getting the truth out about God's word. He was a bright light in this dark world, I loved him so much. His ministry and teaching will go on. It is timeless. I'll see you at the right hand of Glory, you were God's man.

God bless Dr. Scott and give his wife the strength and faith she will need. My pastor since 81. No one has ever opened God's word and brought out His light so clearly. Dr. Scott is re-united with his father, his mother and his Savior.

I loved Dr. Scott like a father. He was a great man, great teacher, and like Vince Lombardi, just wouldn't take less than the best from each of his listeners. I will miss him, even though his message will go on forever. God blessed us with Dr, Scott. I thank God for letting me visit and learn from this man.

ABC's of faith.
Action based on
Belief supported by
Confidence.

You will not learn that little nugget from any other bible teacher, anywhere in modern Christendom.

For this I was (and still am) indebted to Dr. Scott

If guys like him are in heaven then heaven will be a pretty cool place.

Thanks Gene.

Dr. Scott "knew his way home by heart" and he taught us our way home too. If we can hear the legacy he left for all of us is FAITH.

Went to lissen to Dr Scott on my shortwave
as I do every night. then heard the bad news . That dr scott had passed away. I felt like I lost a dear friend.
I think even God might have
enjoyed turning into Dr Scotts show.
May Gods grace be with you Dr Scott.
And dry all the tears of those left behind.

"Don't doubt in the dark what God told you in the light."

"Peace, the cessation of againstness."

At a time when I was a broken burned out North American Indian preacher, I tuned into the Dr.

Once I got past the cigar, I began to listen, listen and listen some more, found true simplyfied faith, and am now contemplating going back to ministry armed with a greater understanding of this faith.
Thank you Dr. Gene..I look forward to seeing you later.

Two great men influenced my life--the late Dr. Walter Martin and now Dr. Gene Scott. Both were historic churchmen, both were controversial, and both loved God and His word.
While Martin had various opinions of Scott, once they asked the original Bible Answerman about that guy who wore the funny hats and taught the Bible. Dr. Martin answered--"Give that man a cigar!"
May they both rejoice in God's great grace!

THANK YOU DR. SCOTT FOR HOLDING THE BAR HIGH. FOR YOUR TEACHING, HUMOR, AND INSPIRATION. YOUR COMMUNICATION OF GOD'S WORD HAS BEEN WITHOUT EQUAL IN MY LIFE TIME. SEE YOU SOON...

He was captivating, honest, a man of great courage; one who was not afraid to be himself and expressed his love through his commitment to teaching the Bible to those who would listen. There are few people in my life that have had such an impact as Dr. Gene Scott. For him to live was Christ and now, to die is gain. Many hearts are broken today over his loss. May we respect his memory and hold him in the highest esteem.

Gene Scott was one of a kind. His television show was utterly addictive and was never boring even when he was discussing religion.

He is reunited with Jake Hess in heaven.

Dr. Scott many many many non-believers loved your work.
