in honor of Dr. Gene Scott...

My favorite conservative Captain Ed has a post comparing Saddam's capture to a scene in The Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien. Does life imitate art, or the other way around? Perhaps some stories are eternal. If so, why should we be surprised when they play out?

This is Captain's 600th post. We started this gig roughly around the same time and he is outpacing me almost 3 to 1. And with serious posts too.

Started watching Dr. Gene Scott in Hartford CT in 1976. Went to a "big satellite dish" in 1989. Then shortwave in 2000. He was truly an important part of my faith journey, and I loved and respected him. A great teacher, and as someone said before me, a genius. I regret never making the trip to LA to hear him preach. He was captivating and never boring. We will miss him.

First heard Doc in 1986. He was preaching his ermon on the proof of the ressurection. Never heard anything like it before. Then in 1996, tuned in again to hear the same sermon. The teaching was unforgettable. He was utterly unique. The world is a poorer place for his passing. Few agreed with everything he said, but few could argue with most of what he said. God Bless Melissa Scott and the ministry. KH# 58530

My mother who was my major connection to studying God's word started listening before I was born, I am now 26 years old. When my mother passed it was solely through Dr. Scott. He has been a family member to me and my family all of my life. I can't wait to meet him and my mother again! Thank you Gene for all you have taught us. May we keep on truckin!!!!!!!!

Such a loss of a wonderful teacher. God surely must welcome his precious son who loves him so much.
We will miss you Dr. Scott, Gene. Our tears are pearls of your lost presence.

---I was sooo...saddened when I first heard the news of Dr. Scotts passing and going home to be with the Lord. I have listened to this man teach..since 1990. H ewas part of my daily life as well; there in the darkness of my own lifes struggles. Truly-there is no "voice" anywhere on this earth that can fill the void left by Dr. Scotts passing.

I was too, saddened by the passing of The Greatest Bible teacher of modern history. The entire Christian world is in debt to Gene Scott is for nothing else than " ... you don't have to park your intelligence at the door to be a Christian.." ! My prayer is that someone in the Christian community will step up to the plate! All the best to the entire congregation!

I am a son blessed by a spiritual father who loved me enough to give me the truth. Armed with the truth I became a man powerful enough to leave a legacy. All that credit is now being spent by Dr. Gene Scott one of the few who made an impact by repeating what his master told him faithfully. Forever changed, forever grateful, forever.

Thanks Doc, you are missed already

THIS IS A SAD DAY FOR THOSE OF US WHO WILL MISS HIM. DR SCOTT WAS A TEACHER FROM GOD. HE TAUGHT US THAT GOD WAS THE ONE WHO MATTERED. THAT OUR HOPE WAS IN HIS MERCY ALONE AND THAT WE COME TO HIM WITH NO COVERING OTHER THAN THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB. THERE IS NO OTHER WAY AND THOSE WHO DIDN'T LIKE DR SCOTT EITHER HADN'T LISTENED TO HIM LONG ENOUGH OR ARE NOT THE CALLED ANYWAY. ONLY AN EAR OPENED BY GOD CAN HEAR THE VOICE OF GOD. DR SCOTT HAD A GIFT THAT COULD PUT FLESH AND BLOOD ON THE BIBLE AND PLACE IT IN OUR EVERYDAY LIVES. MAY THOSE OF US WHO HAVE UNDERSTOOD DR SCOTT TAKE THAT MESSAGE OF FAITH TO A LOST AND DEAD WORLD. ALL ARE DEAD UNTIL THAT MESSAGE GETS INTO THEIR HEARTS. YOU WILL BE MISSED DR SCOTT, YOU WERE LOVED BY MANY.

Doctor Scott saved my life. I had lost my faith and had vested into science which of course left me with nothing. Came across his proofs of the resurrection and I had never heard it proven that way. I too was a little shocked by the cigar. After all we all are used to the hypocritical pastors we normally see. THis guy was the real deal. I now do not question. I KNOW god is with me. I KNOW God is real. I KNOW a deep personal relationship with him. Oh I will miss him so much! All of this was 7 years ago. I have continued to listen to him and learn. Some times it was so hard but I would tape it and listen over and over until I got it. Keep saving the lost Doctor Scott!

If there is Hell, then Gene Scott is there right now. This homo supporting, lecherous, blasphemer ranted and raved into making people to believe that he was the only special one that understood God. Millions of people sent in their hard earned money to support his "escorts", his lecherous paintings and his lavish style that would make any millionaire blush with shame.

We have lost a great actor with Dr. Gene Scott's passing. He will pay for his leading many astray by not being resurrected. I hope he enjoyed his very comfortable millionare-lifestyle because that's all he's gettin'....

I'll miss Dr. Gene Scott. I too like to smoke, drink, chase women and browbeat those areound me. As a genius myself, its my right to have the finer things in life. Thanks Gene for showing me the light. Now that you're gone -- there's more for me.

Dr. Scott was God's man, a true "faither",and I will miss him so much. He has been my pastor since 1986 and I will be his student for the rest of my life.
Doc was the greatest! As for the critics, especially those whom have posted here, "May God curse them seven times seven, they can go straight to hell, good enough for them! Amen!

He was my shepard. I followed him as he followed God. He saved my life. He was a light that shone around the world. I miss him so much already.

"I Wanna Know!"

Dr. Scott will be sorely missed.

I want my teacher back!

Has anyone heard about the continuance of the ministry/broadcast?

Dr.Scott was my spirtual father and I was not ready for him to go home. I feel lost and undone. I must remember the lessons he tried to teach. Action based upon belief sustained by confidence. I hope some day that we board the ship that takes us home. So I can tell him we made it through. You will be missed Dr.Scott.

Dr.Hunter S. Thompson, now Dr.Scott, who's next, Dr. Scholl? The good Dr. was an original, a fast-talkin devil for slow-thinkin people. Dang was he good. He had more toys, fine wine, cigars, jets, horses, art, ranches, mansions -- not to mention the calvalcade of world-class pussy. Its a wonder the ol boy made it this long. You, his loyal followers made it all possible, and for this i thank you.

Even though I'm sad that Doc's gone, I'm so happy for him that he got to go home! I wonder if he hit Peter on his way in (The follow through from his goin' out swingin') or if he punched out Adam when he got there! Thanks be to Doc for his uncompromising strip all the crap away love of the WORD/LORD and allowing us to be a part of something with eternal consequences!! With the re runs, Doc will continue to kick asteroid for many years to come!!

News of his passing hit me like the Challenger disaster. I've learned so much from him. He turly was God's gift to us. Now God took him home.
To be absent in the body is to be present with the Lord. Doctor Scott got his healing. I know he will be sorely missed down here. My heart goes out to Christine, Hang in there!

Personally, I think he was a weirdo who placed way too much attention on his material possessions. I'd much rather study with Dr. Arnold Murray at Shepherd's Chapel. He teaches verse by verse and chapter by chapter. Dr. Murray never asks for money and does not take a salary. I believe if God approves of a ministry he will provide all the finances needed to run that ministry. As I recall, that is not the way it was with Mr. Scott.

for those of you who didn't like(understand)
DR. SCOTT, you sure sound like you watched
an awful lot. I can't fault you for that.
for even though you laugh and ridicule him,
you all kinda sound the same. jealous.
STOP GETTING HIGH ON YOUR OWN SPIRTUAL PRIDE!
One day you might change your mind. Like
so many, many others that have come before you.

One of my "earthly heros" in the faith. I learned from Scott that even though I'm the chief of sinners God still loves me. When you get that settled into you, the enemy has a hard time getting you to fail. Thank you heavenly Father for Dr. Scott. I pray that his wife and family will not overly grieve his passing. I pray they will be comforted and blessed.
