détente can be beautiful cute

The first thing you should know is that my dog is a Chow. A Chow that has bonded deeply with me. This means she tends to follow me around the house everywhere I go. Her name is Sam.

The second thing you should know is that Sam is terrified of thunder. This means that when it rains, she is even more adamant about being under my feet at all times. It is raining really hard here today.

Two of my cats, Bogart and Dinah, are the sweetest "couple" you could ever see. Dinah nuzzles up to spoon with Bogart, and Bogart has a penchant for cleaning Dinah's ears. Cat owners know this means licking the inside of the ear with a very raspy tongue. Kittens aren't fond of their parents doing this, but Dinah and Bogart have an arrangement.

Perhaps you see where this is going.

I am in the kitchen eating Braum's Carb Watch ice cream straight from the pint container, in my pjs of course. It is a really lazy day here. Sam, the chow, is sitting Sphinx-like at my feet. She does a mean Sphinx impression. Bogart sidles up to Sam and rubs his face against hers. Then he settles in and starts trying to clean Sam's ears. She didn't really understand the ritual and kept shaking him off. Eventually she resigned herself to her fate, and Bogart gave Sam's ears a good washing.

Of course there is no picture of this. As soon as any move was made at all, Sam used the excuse to get up and move away from her unrequested ear-cleaning. Can't say that I blame her, but it was cute while it lasted.
