working for the weekend

In short order I will be leaving my cozy home and heading north to meet my mom and aunt at my cousin's house. My mom has one of her quilts entered in a quilt show in Missouri. I'm taking my camera (really!) and will get pictures from the road. This should be an 8-10 hour drive, depending on stops and how fast I go. I have my iPod charged, with 8.8 days of music on it, and my iTrip set up. From what I read there are a few of you on holiday or just travelling this week/month. Be safe. I will too.

One last lingering note on the recluse bite. First, I think it's looking pretty good considering the toxins. Secondly, there is really a lot of information on the internet about the bites and much of it is conflicting. Anne's right about recurring joint pain, though. Apparently it is common for the toxins to remain in your sysem indefinitely, popping up symptoms from time to time. Lovely. I woke up in the middle of the night last night, a mere 2 hours after taking a wonderful itchandpain-stopping Benadryl. In pain. Taking another Benadryl so soon after the last one wasn't a good idea. Never underestimate the power of a good ice pack. I slept soundly the rest of the night.

BTW, I am led to understand that gas prices are higher the further north one goes. Oh dearie me. Sometimes I bet it's cheaper to fly. But not more fun.

Try alternating Advil or Motrin with Orudis KT (ketoprofin). I had a knee doctor recommend it, because they are different enough that you do not risk overdosing, and it will help with the joint inflammation.

Mine went on for nearly 18 months, and I can still predict weather at times.

Have a safe trip!

Have a safe trip and take it easy with the body. Rest as much as you can. Good vibes to your mom on the quilt show. What part of Missouri are you heading? Em and I lived a brief yet memorable month in Jefferson City. Spent a little time in Saint Louis.

Hope the trip is fun and safe. At least you should have long days of sunlight to travel in, assuming the weather is good out there. You're brave to travel while still recovering from your bite - myself, I'd be home in bed moaning and whining and scaring myself that I'm going to die. I'm such a baby. I hope your mom wins! Looking forward to your pictures...
