It's been a long time, does this thing still work? :)

TypePad misery

Can anyone help me out with what code deals with this blasted overflow problem? It's been so long since I had to edit the code in this thing that I have forgotten which tag it is.

celebrity linkage

I added a new link, to Zach Braff's Garden State site. I love his work on Scrubs, and really want to see Garden State. Funny, funny man. He's going places, and not just to the zoo. It's amazing how many people comment on his posts. Just goes to show that with the advent of the Internet, everyone thinks he has something witty to say. Hey, that's me I'm talking about! Geez. anyway, go read his site, support his Tsunami auction, and catch a few episodes of Scrubs. You'll be glad you did.

I'd like a little social commentary with my knitting, please

Note that I have added two new quotes on the left, cribbed from Bohemian Mama, now added to the blogroll on the right. I can't believe I didn't find this site sooner, as she and I read a lot of the same blogs!

On the knitting front, I finished my dimsum cat toy (I made the won ton) and just need to stuff it. It turned out bigger than I would like, so the next one will be smaller. I'll take pictures soon.

news from the home front

Before I get back to the salt mines, I wanted to post a quick note. I haven't been able to read your blogs as often as I would like. Right now I have been doing the fact checking for American Airlines and working on articles for HID. Things are changing up there and I am in a holding pattern to see where the cards are going to fall. So far, I have been given extra work, which means extra cash. Work is good :)

Meanwhile, today is apparently De-Lurker Day. Far be it from me to beg for comments when I am not leaving very many anywhere these days, but you might want to mention this on yer own blog and see who is reading your site under the cover of darkness. Or whatever.

beyond memes

Tvindy has undertaken another project that highlights some of the best blogging in digitized print. He is putting together a book of posts from various bloggers. I am participating, and I hope you do too, either by recommending posts that should be included or submitting your own work for the project. Here is a list of the bloggers participating so far, with some suggestions of posts for them to include in the book.

BTW, I am still thinking about what posts of mine to recommend. If you have any suggestions, let me know. I would love to find out which of my posts you enjoyed the most (if any...).

BTW, I ate all the cake and punch, sorry. Maybe next year I'll remember to pass some around.

new blog!

Ok, because I have nothing to do with my free time (what's free time?) and I am a blogaholic, I have started another blog. This one is a diet blog, where some friends and I are helping each other shape up and feel better. Come visit My So-Called Diet and leave a comment or a few. Share your ideas with us. If you are interested in becoming a poster, let me know. Meanwhile, me and the ladies (yes, I know it's grammatically incorrect) are going to test some recipes and figure out how to beat society's paradox of wanting us to be thin and toned and tanned and tall while at the same time indulging ourselves and having no discipline because we are the elite, the chosen, the Americans.

I will be posting a rant soon about how our urban spread has caused our butt spread. Come see what you think!

I have been lazy. Wallowing. slowly going into hibernation mode. I have been taking excuse jobs to get by just enough to say I am doing something. I have been afraid to go for jobs that I should be able to get. I doubt my abilities and end up wanting to do non-jobs. Things I think will be easy, and I want to do them for that reason rather than because I have much interest in the job itself. Oh, I *think* I want that job sacking groceries at the local health food store, the small one that probably pays its employees just enough to keep the bike tires filled with air. I truly believe I want to work as a clerk in a holistic medical clinic. You know, the one that specializes in myscofaciabilateralmytosis, something throngs of people are clamoring to have done, donchaknow. Uh-huh.

A dear friend kicked my ass recently, and pointed out the decline in my activity over the past three years. I became slowly quieter, less likely to rock the boat. Most importantly, I found The Internet™ and exchanged all my real friends for pixels on a screen.

Now, now, some of you are very nice pixels indeed! and I count you as close as friends who never meet in person can be. This is still, truly, my Third Place. But I gave up some of my living to be here A LOT. I lost interest in doing anything too far away from my computer, and for too long at a time. Most of you probably regulate yourselves just fine with your computer time, but I didn't. It was my alcohol. My cocaine. The internet is the opiate of the masses, perhaps? So that is why I have been slowing down with my posting, at least for a while. Till I can sit here and post something and then not spend hours surfing. Of course, it takes me 3 hours to get through my blogroll and actually respond to posts with comments of my own. Nightly. In place of sleep and other fun things. My Third Place, The Internet™, became my corner bar where I would go and drink myself silly and go home and drop into bed. I hate admitting it. Oh and that job? I'm going to get one. Watch me. But time through the blogroll?

Hello. My name is Alicia, and I am a blogaholic.

strange changes

This morning when I opened my site, I had popups (which I blocked -I use the Google taskbar), and two phrases in my last post have links that do not appear in my edit window when I checked. Has anyone else seen this behavior on their sites? I will check with the users forum. This is very strange!

I changed the phrases to remove the links. I still got a popup, which I blocked, though. More on this strangeness later.

addendum: I notice this same "top text link" on Snowball's site. I will see where else it is. Ugh. Typepad needs to take care of this unwanted link-spam.
