maybe if we paint the headphones black...

What is the music player of choice for 80% of the employees at Microsoft's Redmond, Washington headquarters that listen to portable music players? According to Wired it's....

iPods.

80% of the employees have portable music players, and of that 80%, 80% listen to their beloved iPods, albeit stealthily in many instances. Upper management is none too happy. Some employees can get away with it easily, such as those who work in the Macintosh Business Unit, where software is created for Macs. I wonder if they will call it Macrosoft....and if Gates would note the irony. Those who work in the Windows Digital Media Group aren't so lucky. Upper management is nervous enough to be sending out memos about the use of iPods and wondering why their own employees won't use Microsoft portable music players.

I have to laugh. I wonder if this will spawn a new accessory, the iStealth.

disconnected!

I have not had internet access at the house since Friday morning, and will not have it there till at least Thursday afternoon. Those of you who have sent me emails and they bounced, I'm sorry. Leave me a comment here and I'll email you from a web email account. I am so frustrated with ISPs here right now!

Anyway, I miss reading and writing here. I'll be back asap. (I am borrowing my mom's connection right now).

this time it wasn't my fault

I have had no internet connection for half the weekend and until this moment. After I get caught up I have some interesting tid bits to share. Meanwhile, with my lack of internet, the back room got lots of overdue attention. There are boxes for Goodwill, boxes of books to sell to the local Recycled Books, and bags and bags of trash. Soon there will actually be room to walk and eventually a sitting room for reading. Whee!

More soon!

love,
me

Anne, I found us a job!

I read a little comic called Something Positive, by Randall Milholland, native North Texan moved to the northeast. His recent strips are about something he was introduced to probably by one of his readers. Ask The Tech Girl. This service preys on geek boys who could never talk to a smart girl, or any girl for that matter, for any length of time. Call to chat about what *you* know about, or get some help fixing your HP printer, and get an ego boost from a hot tech girl. Whoever came up with this is a genius. I wonder how well it is doing.

Be sure to check out their Cafe Press shop and buy a t-shirt. :)

I missed Towel Day!

Towel Day is May 25th, the day you carry around your towel in a tribute to and to mourn the loss of Mr. Douglas Adams, 1952-2001.

Via Pops, who was sharing the joy of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy with Mr. Man.

aren't I a monkey's uncle? (or aunt, as the case may be)

The problem I was seeing, dear friends, was because somehow I got some spyware on my system. I have spent the afternoon cleaning it up, suffering blue screens, and generally being pissy. I'm better now. I have had non-IE browsers recommended and I am considering a dual-boot machine for a while to see if I could live on Linux. I like the tinkerability of Linux, although it reminds me of a second car, the old convertible MG or Spitfire that you keep in the garage to tweak it and take it out on weekends to enjoy tooling about. But I digress.

If you are up at midnight CST on a Saturday, watch She Spies. Campy, cheesy fun. What Charlie's Angels should have been if it hadn't taken itself so seriously :)

links and popups update

I have noticed the top text links on other sites that aren't TypePad sites, so I am wondering if this isn't an IE problem. Why would I not be surprised?

Anyone out there using non-IE browswers that are seeing this link and popup issue, especially on TypePad sites?
